Call for papers

Turbo Coding - 2008
5th International Symposium on Turbo Codes & related topics
September 1-5, 2008

Turbo Coding 2008 will be held on Monday 1st – Friday September 5th, 2008 at the EPFL (Ecole Polytechnique Fédérale, Lausanne) in Lausanne, Switzerland. The Symposium will provide the opportunity to acquire a broad overview of the current status and advanced research in iterative methods and their application to information theory and digital communications. The Symposium will include regular papers and poster sessions as well as some invited papers.

High-quality original contributions of both applied and theoretical nature in the following areas are solicited:

* Error correction coding * Turbo codes and LDPC codes
* Coded and turbo coded modulation* Detection and turbo detection
* Equalization and turbo equalization* Synchronization and turbo synchronization
* Multi-user detection* Bounds,performance and convergence
* Algorithms for constituent codes* Interleaving and graphs
* Fountain codes * Network coding


The accepted papers will appear in IEEE Xplore.

Submission of Papers for Turbo 2008

Submission of papers for review (by March 27, 2008)

Papers (not exceeding 6 pages) in the form of a PDF file may be submitted to the EDAS site for Turbo 2008. (If you do not yet have an EDAS account, you will be asked to create one.)

It is recommended to format the paper as described below.

Submission of accepted papers (by June 30, 2008)

The final version of accepted papers (not exceeding 6 pages, formatted as below, and IEEE Xplore-compatible) may be submitted to the EDAS site for Turbo 2008.

For each paper, a completed and duly signed IEEE Copyright Form must be faxed to +41 21 693 7698.

Paper Format

The final version of accepted papers (not exceeding 6 pages) should be formatted as described in FinalPapers.pdf. LaTeX and Word templates may be downloaded here:


In addition, the paper must be an IEEE Xplore-compatible PDF file. A common problem with IEEE Xplore-compatibility is missing fonts.
Make sure that all fonts are embedded. (In some cases, printing a PDF to a PostScript file, and then creating a new PDF with Acrobat Distiller, may do the trick.)
